Public Space Occupancy IoT Logs

This dataset provides granular, time-stamped logs from occupancy sensors deployed in public spaces, including occupancy counts, environmental readings, and anomaly flags. It enables smart building operators and city planners to monitor real-time usage, detect unusual patterns, and optimize resource allocation for energy management, space utilization, and predictive maintenance. The schema supports robust analytics and operational insights for urban environments.

Behind this dataset

Same schema. As many rows as you need.

These 120 rows came out of a blueprint — 19 columns with generation rules behind each one. Open it in Data Factory to retune a column, add your own, wire in foreign keys, and run it at the size you actually need.

Rules it was built with
  • Each row represents one sensor event with timestamp, sensor ID, and occupancy status.
  • Sensor IDs are unique per location zone.
  • Occupancy status is either 'vacant', 'occupied', or 'unknown'.
  • Events with consecutive identical statuses are aggregated for efficiency.
  • Anomaly flag is triggered if occupancy status changes rapidly within 10 minutes.
